Calgary Tower
Built in 1967 to celebrate Canada’s centennial, this iconic 191-metre free standing observation tower located in the heart of downtown Calgary offers the best view in the city. The 360° scope offers city views and showcases sweeping landscape views of the Rocky Mountains, Alberta’s prairies, and rolling foothills.
Although the tower is eclipsed in size today, when it opened in 1968, it was the tallest structure in Calgary then in 1975 became the second tallest in Canada, after the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario opened. Installed on the exterior of the tower are a sophisticated system of LED lights that will treat your eyes to a colourful lightshow every morning and evening, honoring national holidays, cultural events or causes, as well as sports teams.
Today, the tower is a popular tourist attraction and a popular dining spot. See the entire city while you dine at Sky 360 Restaurant and Lounge, a rotating restaurant that revolves a full 360° every 60 minutes. It is conveniently located a short five-minute drive (or 17-minute walk) from our downtown Calgary Hotel.
