The Seattle area is synonymous with coffee, making it an especially great destination for posting up in a quaint cafe on brisk or dreary days. Chilly weather is just around the corner, and there's no better place to cozy up than a warm, intimate coffee shop. It's the perfect setting whether you’re looking to meet a friend, get lost in a favourite book, get some work done, or simply want to sip on a hot, comforting drink without much of anything on your mind.

With several excellent local coffee shops near Sea-Tac Airport to choose from, you're sure to find a favourite (or two or three!).

Coffee Shops in Bellevue

Across from Seattle, sitting right on Lake Washington, Bellevue is affectionately known as "the city in a park," because of its abundance of open green spaces and excellent community parks. A bigger city than most suburbs, Bellevue is a hub for technology, shopping, and dining, and is home to several excellent coffee shops — many with postcard-worthy views!

Woods Coffee

Woods Coffee has been a pillar of the western Washington community for over two decades. With three Bellevue locations in addition to several others throughout the state, it's easy to find a convenient one to pop into. One location in particular, nestled in at the Hotel 116, a Coast Hotel, features a cozy fireplace, meeting spaces, a drive-thru, and free wi-fi, making it ideal for any type of visit. Add all that to the cabin-in-the-woods decor and the fact that everything at Woods Coffee is made fresh daily, including all the baked goods the company is renowned for. You may never want to leave!

Third Culture Coffee

A global-inspired coffee shop in Bellevue, Third Culture Coffee is one of the city's more unique cafes. The company's mission statement is "to provide a delicious, nutritious beverage that celebrates the diversity of cultures and are good for us," and to that end, it offers a vast array of specialty and artisanal beverages. Think organic, low- and no-sugar, plant-based, and locally-sourced options. Fitting right in with its vibe, their Bellevue cafe also features work from local artists covering the walls, much of it for sale.

Bellden Cafe Coffee Shop

This Bellevue coffee shop's fun play on words is meant to evoke a sense that Bellden Cafe is a cozy den for guests in the heart of Bellevue. The shop itself is a beautiful, modern, airy space serving extremely Instagrammable (and tasty!) dishes like a variety of colourful avocado toasts and acai bowls. Insider tip: try the green matcha waffle or pink avocado toast, which comes with a schmear of house-made pink hummus. Bellden Cafe is also heavily engaged in community outreach, partnering with several local charities.

Cafe Cesura In Bellevue

Right in the core of downtown Bellevue, Cafe Cesura is a place where "coffee, community, and art converge." The cool, modern cafe sources and roasts all of its own single-origin coffees, plus offers a nice selection of loose-leaf teas and creative food items not typically found in coffee shops. Local favourites include the grilled veggie sandwich and banh mi. Cafe Cesura also serves wine and "boozy lattes," offering the option to add a shot to any coffee beverage.

Coffee Shops in the SeaTac Area

Located near the Seattle-Tacoma airport and considered an official suburb of both cities, the general SeaTac area is home to many small, independently-owned coffee shops.

Jasper's Coffee

Celebrating a commendable 30 years in business in 2022, Jasper's Coffee is a small family-owned and operated coffee shop with a wildly popular drive-thru. Many cafes claim to have the best coffee, but that's not merely a claim at Jasper's. The owner is a world-certified coffee judge (yes, it's a very real thing!) and several employees are competition-trained baristas or fellow coffee competition judges. It goes without saying that this place knows coffee! Jasper's has two locations, both convenient to the airport, and it also has a fun, creative online guest book where visitors can post their experiences in real time.

Espresso Vivace

Sometimes coffee just won't cut it — you need strong espresso. For those occasions, there's Espresso Vivace, with three locations in the Seattle metro area. The cafe is renowned for its high-quality espresso, a direct result of the fact that the owners have studied espresso techniques and sourced some of the world's best espresso since the early 1990s. World-famous Chef Emeril Lagasse even said it was "Probably the best coffee I ever had in the United States, if not close to the world." That's quite an endorsement!

Cafe Hagen

Based entirely on the Scandinavian concept of Hygge, the art of coziness, you can rest assured that Cafe Hagen will quickly become one of your favourite coffee shops in Seattle. Its two locations (one in Queen Anne and one in South Lake Union) are indeed extremely welcoming and relaxing, but they also dish up creative food and drink offerings. Alongside traditional lattes and drip coffees, you'll see items like the brown sugar rosemary latte and salmon mousse toast.

Where to Stay In Bellevue, WA

If you're headed to Bellevue or the Seattle metro area, consider making it more of a getaway and staying in town overnight or, better yet, for the weekend!
