Explore Canmore Farmer’s Markets & Festivals This Fall

Whether you’re planning to stay in Canmore or drive up for a specific event, plenty is happening in our bustling town. Plus, with the change in seasons and the Rocky Mountains close by, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery on earth while perusing the Canmore farmer’s market or enjoying a festival.

Looking for things to do in Canmore this fall? We’ve got you covered. This list includes something for everyone, including different interests like art, music, books, food and cultural activities.

Canmore Festivals & Farmers Markets

Many people visit Canmore for its natural beauty and proximity to the Rocky Mountains. But the town also has a bustling community, rich with culture and a vibrant atmosphere, with plenty of things to do to keep you busy between hiking or conferences. Simply walking down Main Street, Canmore will fill your time with the many shops and restaurants. However, if you’d like to experience our community atmosphere even more, we recommend heading to a Canmore festival or farmer’s market. And if you happen to be visiting Canmore in the fall, plenty are on the docket. 


1. Canmore Mountain Market

This is one of the most famous Canmore farmer's markets. It runs every Thursday until October 3, 2024, resuming in May 2025. Open from 10am to 6pm, it’s a lovely place to find crafts and produce made and grown locally and regionally. 

What to expect:

A wide variety of vendors offering vegetables, jams, coffee, fresh bread, meats, clothing, jewelry, crafts, and other alluring products.

2. Mountain Made Market & Live Performances

If you find yourself looking for things to do in Canmore on Saturday, September 14, head to artsPlace. This Canmore farmer’s market includes live performances from local talent indoors and outdoors and runs from 10am to 4pm. 

What to expect:

This family-friendly event is one to stick around for all day. Enjoy a variety of handmade goods from local vendors, along with talented musicians and kids-friendly performances.

**Additional Mountain Made Markets will be held at Canmore Civic Centre and Canmore Recreational Centre on October 12 and November 30, respectively.

3. Community Market & Outdoor Stage

On September 15, from 10am to 4pm, drop by the artsPlace Community Market & Outdoor Stage. Part of the Canmore Festival of Art and Creativity, this farmers market in Canmore is full of fun activities and local vendors.

What to expect:

Plan for a day of food tasting and art making, and enjoy cultural festivals to celebrate our beautiful community.

4. Canmore Festival of Art & Creativity

So far, you’ve seen two events on this list that are part of the Canmore Festival of Art & Creativity. Though the farmer's markets are significant parts of the overall festival in Canmore, they just scratch the surface of the events offered in this fun-packed weekend taking place from September 13 to 15. 

What to expect:

A weekend of free arts programs and multicultural events. From art workshops to artist demonstrations, theatre performances and even a dance party, you’ll find your weekend plans full simply by stopping in at artsPlace.

5. Canmore Pride Festival

September is Pride Month in Canmore, and the festival takes place from September 9 to 15. With activities ranging from a Youth Art Night and karaoke to a drag show, cooking, and yoga, there’s much to explore in Canmore this weekend.

6. Bike Shorts Film Festival

Love to cycle? We think you’ll love the Bike Shorts Film Festival. Held on September 15 at 7pm, enjoy this short film festival for all ages that celebrates all things cycling!

What to expect:

Take in a night of bike-themed short videos competing for a grand prize. This is an all-ages event.

7. Banff Centre Mountain Film & Book Festival

While you will need to travel outside of Canmore for this festival, it’s well with the journey if you’re a film or book buff. Running from October 26 to November 3, you’ll delight in feature films, books and talks by creators from around the globe.

What to expect:

2024's tour features 37 films from around the world. There will also be a Festival Marketplace, happy hours with music, art exhibits and more.

8. Canmore Wild Festival

Formerly the Festival of Eagles, if you love nature and birds, we recommend planning your trip between September 20 and November 5 to enjoy the fun. This wildlife festival celebrates golden eagles as they migrate through the Bow Valley. 

What to expect:

Enjoy guided walks, eagle viewing and educational talks.

Join the fall migration count at Mt. Lorette, Steeples and Vicki Ridge.

9. Old Time Rendevous Square Dance

Take part in the Alberta square dancing tradition at the Old Time Rendezvous Square Dance on October 5 from 7pm. to 10pm. While this isn’t a festival in Canmore, it’s still a celebration designed to preserve and promote the tradition.

What to expect:

A night of square dancing fun with a live band. All experience levels are welcome. The venue has limited capacity, so grab your tickets early.
