New Year, New Goals: Planning 2025 Corporate Retreats

14/01/2025

Canmore is a dream destination for corporate retreats. With a bustling downtown full of culture, sightseeing and dining options, nobody will ever get bored, while the mountain vistas surrounding Canmore provide endless opportunities for adventure and a beautiful backdrop to your corporate retreat.

The centrally-located Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre has everything your corporate retreat needs, too, from meeting rooms to comfortable accommodations to great food at TABLE Food + Drink. You could host a full corporate retreat without ever leaving our hotel. However, with so much to do in the town and the surrounding area, it’s definitely a good idea to get outside and explore.

Corporate retreats can provide amazing team-building, planning and strategic value for companies, but it’s important to plan them properly.

How to Plan a Corporate Retreat

1. Define Your Goals

Not every corporate retreat will be the same, and it’s important to define your purpose and goals. This allows you to shape your itinerary and ensure that your corporate retreat is successful at meeting its objectives.

Consider whether the purpose of your corporate retreat is:

  • Team building
  • Rewarding your employees
  • Professional development
  • Strategic planning

2. Pick the Right Venue

Will your corporate retreat need large conference rooms for presentations? What about smaller rooms for breakout workshops or concentrated team meetings? Should the dining and accommodations be attached to the area where work will be taking place?

These are all important considerations and can make a huge difference in the success of your corporate retreat.

The Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre offers the following options:

  • Wildrose Ballroom: A 6,042-square-foot ballroom that can be used for large presentations and divided into four separate working areas. A great option for larger groups.
  • Wolverine Room: This versatile 528-square-foot room has plenty of natural light.
  • Wapiti Room: A bright and functional 352-square-foot room perfect for small meetings.
  • Caribou Room: A 528-square-foot room.
  • Squirrel Room: With lots of natural light, this 528-square-foot room can be configured to your liking.
  • Cougar Room: This 432-square-foot room is versatile and can be connected to the Grizzly Room to increase space.
  • Grizzly Room: This 432-square-foot room can be connected to the Cougar room.
  • TABLE Private: Located next to our restaurant, this bright and airy space is ideal for small gatherings of any kind.

With TABLE Food + Drink on-site for meals, ready-to-provide catering and the hotel itself mere steps from the meeting rooms, our The Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre provides all you’ll need for your corporate retreats.

 3. Plan the Right Activities

Corporate retreats aren’t supposed to be all work and no play, and one of the best things about hosting a retreat in Canmore is the amazing wealth of activities available at any time of the year.

  In Winter

  • Snowshoeing: Snowshoeing is a great way to get out and enjoy some fresh air in the mountains. Several guided tours are available out of Canmore and in nearby Kananaskis, including Kananaskis Outfitters and Canadian Rockies Experiences.
  • Dog Sledding: How about going dog-sledding? What better way to explore the Rockies than this quintessential Canadian experience? Both Snow Owl Sled Dog Tours and Howling Dog Tours offer incredible experiences.
  • Brewery Tour: Try a brewery tour and discover Canmore’s thriving craft brewery scene, or, if you want to get creative on your corporate retreat, take your group to Crock A Doodle for some pottery painting.

   In Summer

  • Golfing: Hit the links at one of the five incredible golf courses in the Canmore and Kananaskis area. Hitting the ball off the tee with the mountains as your backdrop is an experience every golfer needs to experience.
  • Horseback Riding: Go horseback riding at the Boundary Ranch, which offers an authentically Albertan experience.

  4. Figure Out Dining & Catering

You don’t want anyone at your corporate retreat going hungry, so it’s important to find a venue that can accommodate your group's needs. Meals and snacks are an important part of the experience, after all.

The Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre offers an impressive range of catering options that can accommodate all dietary requirements. The on-site restaurant TABLE Food + Drink serves breakfast, dinner and lunch and has an upscale,       contemporary menu

5. Find Comfortable Accommodations

When it’s time to head to bed, it’s incredibly important that everyone at your corporate retreat has somewhere cozy and comfortable to sleep. Ideally, that will be as close to the area where the rest of the corporate retreat is taking place as possible.

At the Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre, our modern rooms are just steps away from the conference rooms. With triple-sheeted beds, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee, tea and spacious bedrooms, our hotel rooms will ensure everyone at your corporate retreat gets a good night’s sleep.

The hotel also has an indoor pool and fitness centre with Peloton Bikes and a Lululemon Studio mirror for those who want to start or end their days with a workout. Our heated hotel pool and hot tub are also great ways to wind down.
