These Official Sweepstakes Rules (“Official Rules”) apply to the 2025 Coast Hotels Taste of Japan Sweepstakes to be held during the Sweepstakes Period shown below (the “Sweepstakes”).

Eligibility

(a) General Eligibility. The Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, and all legal residents of Alaska, California, Hawai’i, Oregon, and Washington State, who have reached the age of 19 years or older at the commencement of the Sweepstakes Period (each, an “Eligible Person”). The Sweepstakes is only open to Coast Rewards™ Members in good standing. Enrollment in the Coast Rewards™ Member program is free. Non-Members can enroll online at www.coasthotels.com, call Member Services at 1.800.549.9099, or enroll at any Coast Hotels location.

The Sweepstakes is not open to (a) employees of Coast Hotels Limited, Coast Hotels USA, Inc., or any of the respective affiliates and related hotels, companies, advertising or promotional agencies, employees of APA Group and/or APA Hotels & Resorts, and employees of any Coast Rewards Partner, or any of the respective affiliates or related companies, advertising or promotional agencies; and (b) the member of the immediate family or household (whether related or not) of any of the above persons. For these Sweepstakes Rules, “immediate family” means spouse, children, parents, parents of spouse, siblings, and spouse’s siblings, regardless of where they live.

(b) Additional Eligibility Requirements. Prior to being eligible to receive any Prize in the Sweepstakes, an individual who has been selected as a potential winner of the Sweepstakes must provide the Sponsor with any information or certifications needed by the Sponsor in the Sponsor’s sole judgment. Without limiting the foregoing, a person who has been selected as the potential winner of any Prize may be required to sign a copy of these Official Rules and to complete and sign (1) a Declaration of Compliance, Liability and Publicity Release (except where prohibited by law) (2) a Waiver and Release from Liability, and (3) any other document Sponsor determines is required, necessary or appropriate, in its judgment, to confirm the winner’s eligibility and for tax reporting purposes. Being eligible to participate in any of the Sweepstakes or receive a Prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, territorial, municipal, and local laws and regulations, and is void where prohibited.

Sponsor

The sponsor of the Sweepstakes is Coast Hotels Limited (“Coast Hotels”) (the “Sponsor”).

Sweepstakes Period

The Sweepstakes starts at 11:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on February 28, 2025 (the “Sweepstakes Period”). All times listed here are in Pacific Standard Time.

How to Enter

If you are an Eligible Person, you may enter the Sweepstakes by visiting https://www.coasthotels.com/konnichiwa-taste-of-japan-coast-rewards-sweepstakes and completing and submitting an entry form (an “Entry”) during the Sweepstakes Period.

It is necessary to fully complete the Entry, including by providing a valid email address where you may be contacted if selected as a potential winner, and submit the Entry as described on the Sweepstakes Homepage. Each Eligible Person who successfully submits a completed Entry will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes and be an “Entrant.” All potential winners are subject to verification before any prize will be awarded.

To be considered valid, an Entry must:

1. be submitted via a form on www.coasthotels.com;
2. be submitted by an Eligible Person, and
3. not contain any viruses or other interfering computer programming.

By participating in the Sweepstakes, Entrants warrant and agree to abide by the Official Rules. Coast Hotels reserves the right to deem ineligible and exclude from the Sweepstakes any Entry or Entrant that Coast Hotels, in its sole and absolute discretion, does not meet or abide by the Official Rules.

There is a limit of one (1) Sweepstakes entry for every Eligible Person for each email received per email address. Multiple Entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any person to enter the Sweepstakes more than one (1) time by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations, logins, or any other methods will void that person's entries and that person may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. The Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, or misdirected registrations, which will be disqualified. Any attempt or suspected attempt to use robotic, automatic, programmed, or otherwise illicit means to enter the Sweepstakes, or any other methods not authorized by these Official Rules, for example, but not limited to, submitting multiple Entries or creating multiple email ID’s, shall be deemed as tampering and may lead to the disqualification from Entry, participation, and/or Sweepstakes Prizes, and preclude such persons from participating in future contests and promotions, at the sole discretion of Coast Hotels. Entries that are late, lost, stolen, illegible, contain false information, are damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled or incomplete, altered or otherwise irregular or that do not conform with or satisfy any or all the conditions outlined in these Official Rules will be judged void. All Sweepstakes Entries become the property of Coast Hotels upon receipt, and none will be returned.

Sweepstakes Prizes

One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded to one (1) winner; one (1) 2nd Prize will be awarded to one (1) second place winner; and one (3) 3rd Prize will be awarded to one (1) third place winner. Each winner is responsible for all taxes and fees associated with Prize receipt and/or use:

Grand Prize.

The Grand Prize will consist of a Travel Package to Tokyo, Japan as described in more detail below. The estimated retail value of the Grand Prize is $10,000. Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries to the Sweepstakes received during the Sweepstakes Period; one (1) Grand Prize will be awarded to one (1) winner.

2nd Prize.

The 2nd Prize will be 20,000 Coast Rewards™ points equaling 2 nights’ accommodation at any Coast Hotel. The estimated retail value of the 2nd Prize is $1,000.

Odds of winning the 2nd Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries to the Sweepstakes received during the Sweepstakes Period; one (1) 2nd Prize will be awarded to one (1) winner.

3rd Prize.

The 3rd Prize will be 10,000 Coast Rewards™ points equaling 1 night’s accommodation at any Coast Hotel. The estimated retail value of the 3rd Prize is $500.

Odds of winning the 3rd Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries to the Sweepstakes received during the Sweepstakes Period; one (1) 3rd Prize will be awarded to one (1) winner.

Travel Package Details

The Travel Package awarded as the Grand Prize will consist of:

• Six (6) nights accommodation for two (2), double occupancy, in an APA Hotels and Resorts hotel in the metropolitan area of Tokyo, Japan (the “Tokyo Hotel”). The exact hotel location will be selected by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.
• Roundtrip airfare for two (2) to Tokyo, Japan, and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), or Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA), or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Tokyo (the “Departure Airport”). All airfare will be economy class. The Sponsor may offer the winner the choice of any of the above-mentioned international airports.

The dates of travel and related accommodation will be decided by the Sponsor with input from the winner. However, the Travel Package may not be available on certain dates due to holidays and similar matters that cause the Travel Package to be unreasonably expensive as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.

Travel to and from the winner’s home and the Departure Airport, and to and from the airport in Tokyo and the Tokyo Hotel, shall be the responsibility of the winner and at the winner’s cost. All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the Travel Package descriptions above, including but not limited to, additional ground transportation, meals, incidentals, gratuities, passenger tariffs or duties, airline fees, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or other expenses are the responsibility solely of the winner. The winner and the winner’s travel guest are each solely responsible for obtaining a current passport to complete all travel.

Selection of Winners and Notification; Additional Canadian Resident Requirement

Within three (3) business days of the end of the Sweepstakes Period, Coast Hotels will select one (1) potential Grand Prize winner, one (1) potential 2nd Prize winner, and one (1) potential 3rd Prize winner by means of a random drawing.

Each potential winner as determined by the drawing will be notified by the email address that they submitted on their Entry. The potential winner may be required to sign and return (1) a Declaration of Compliance, Liability and Publicity Release (except where prohibited by law) (2) a Waiver and Release from Liability, and (3) any other document the Sponsor determines is required, necessary or appropriate, in its judgment, to confirm the winner’s eligibility and for tax reporting purposes.

Each of these items must be received by the Sponsor within ten (10) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim the Prize.

Canadian Residents. Due to legal restrictions in Canada, any potential winner who is a resident of Canada will be required to correctly answer, without the assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone or form or email (the “Skills Test”).

At any time, if (i) the Sponsor determines that a person whose submission is selected as a potential winner is not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes, or (ii) a person whose name is drawn refuses to accept the selection as a winner, or (iii) a person whose name is drawn resides in Canada and cannot successfully complete the Skills Test; or (iv) a person whose name is drawn cannot or does not complete the eligibility requirements described in "Additional Eligibility Requirements" above, including without limitation a failure to sign and return the required documents described above or provide any other requested information within the required time period, or (v) a person cannot be contacted, then that person will be ineligible to win a Prize. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified or ineligible for any reason, the potential winner(s) forfeits the Prize and the Sponsor will award the Prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only three (3) alternate drawings will be held, after which the Prize will remain un-awarded.

All Prizes must be accepted as presented, are non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash, and must be redeemed within twelve (12) months from the date of notification.

Contest Winner Announcement

The Sweepstakes winners will be announced via Coast Hotels social media accounts at the end of the Sweepstakes Period.

Releases

Before being declared a Prize winner, a selected Entrant will be required to sign a Declaration of Compliance and a Release of Liability form, releasing the Sponsor, and each of their respective partners and advertising & promotional agencies, any Promotion judging organization, parent companies, and affiliates, of the foregoing and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability in connection with this Sweepstakes or the Prize. The Released Parties will also not be held liable for any typographical or other errors in the offer in the other or administration of this Sweepstakes, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of winners, or the distribution of any Prize. The Released Parties (i) make no warranty, guarantee, or representation of any kind concerning any Prize, (ii) disclaim any implied warranty, and (iii) are not liable for injury loss, or damage of any kind resulting from the acceptance, use or misuse of any Prize, travel-related thereto, or otherwise from participation in this Sweepstakes. Should a Prize winner bring a guest for the hotel stay, the prize winner’s guest must also sign and return a Declaration and Release of Liability form.

The Declaration of Compliance and Release of Liability documents for both the winner and his/her guest must be returned within the time period indicated in the documents or the Prize will be forfeited. The name of the guest cannot be changed once the guest’s Declaration and Release of Liability form has been received by the Sponsor or its agent. 

Personal Information and Publicity

By entering these Sweepstakes, Entrants consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal information for the purposes of administering the Sweepstakes. Except as prohibited by law, by accepting the Prize each winner consents to the collection, use, and disclosure to the public of their names, addresses (city or province/territory), voices, statements and photographs, or other likenesses for publicity purposes in connection with the Sweepstakes in any media or formats, including but not limited to the Internet, without further notice, permission or compensation. Personal information will not otherwise be used or disclosed without consent.

Winners List

To obtain a copy of each winner’s name (first name and last initial) or a copy of these Official Rules, mail your request along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Coast Hotels Limited, 535 Thurlow Street, Suite 700, Vancouver, BC, V6E 3L2, Canada. Requests must be received no later than March 31st, 2025, 5 pm PST.

Miscellaneous

The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, and/or modify the Sweepstakes, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, human error, or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such event, the Sponsor reserves the right to award any Prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes.

Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules for the Sweepstakes are subject to disqualification from this Sweepstakes. Sponsor will not be responsible if weather conditions or other factors beyond Sponsor’s control prevent Prizes or any part of a Prize from being fulfilled. In any such event, a winner will not be provided with a substitute Prize or cash equivalent. Prizes will only be released to the verified winners. If any activity relating to any Prize is canceled or postponed for any reason, the balance of the Prize may be awarded in full satisfaction of the Prize award. All decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. No correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable U.S. federal and applicable state laws, and, for Canadian residents, provincial and municipal laws.
